Lake Station is a farm with heart. Our goal is to bring together the best technology and farming practices to produce world class beef and lamb.
Fronting onto the Buller River and with the magnificent St Arnaud Range as a backdrop Lake Station is a truly remarkable grazing property running Hereford Cattle and crossbred ewes. Comprising mainly extensive river flats and elevated terraces with some steeper hill faces and native bush, this is a station with history, heart and a great record.
Owned by John Kerr (1830-1898), Nelson politician, from the 1850s until his death. Lake Station was then bought in 1936 by Alex McConochie and stayed in the family for 4 generations.
Sold in Jan 2022 to stay in kiwi ownership, this station is continuing a long legacy of proud New Zealand farming and taking care of this special part of New Zealand.
